Sharna Arti (formerly Hughes)– Ādarśa founder, Psychologist (MAPsych),
Somatic Psychotherapist, Breathwork facilitator & Yoga Teacher
I have a deep passion for my chosen field and consider it a great privilege to engage in the work I do. Since becoming a therapist, my focus has always been on learning and applying the most effective psycho-technologies and knowledge within my field. By integrating transpersonal psychology in a somatic/process-oriented approach, I create a space for individuals to address issues from the various levels of experience they may be stemming from. More specifically for this process-oriented work I blend EMDR, Havening, Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness, schema therapy breathwork and where invited, psychological astrology.
This integrative approach provides a space for unresolved experiences and unintegrated emotions from the past to be welcomed and released. In the right setting, the nervous system is intelligently capable of spontaneously creating a movement that brings individuals out of a stuck way of being—with tremendous relief and often an ensuing expansion of consciousness.
Sometimes, the work is less experiential—a space where individuals discover, through dialogue, their inner courage and resilience to navigate challenging life events or develop the sense-making skills needed for our complex modern world.
Due to a deep understanding of the pervasive issue of loneliness and disconnection within today’s society, and drawing from my own healing journey I strongly believe in the benefits of group work. Therefore, I offer not only individual consultations but also facilitate group workshops and retreats that incorporate many different modalities such as Kundalini yoga, breathwork and art therapy. I have also brought together an Ādarśa team of other facilitators also interested in offering beautiful and transformative experiences within groups. I work alongside my beloved canine sidekick Kiron, who is an integral part of my practice.
