Psychological Astrology in Brunswick, Melbourne

At Ādarśa, we offer psychological astrology as part of our integrative approach to therapy and self-understanding. Based in Brunswick and Strathmore, Melbourne, our founder Sharna Arti weaves astrological insight into the therapeutic process for clients who are open to exploring this dimension of their experience.

Psychological astrology is not about predictions or fortune telling. It is a framework for understanding the deeper patterns, tensions and potentials within the psyche — used alongside evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support healing and personal growth.

What Is Psychological Astrology?

Psychological astrology is the meeting point of astrology and depth psychology. It uses the birth chart — a map of the sky at the moment of your birth — as a symbolic tool for exploring personality, emotional patterns, relational dynamics and life themes.

Rather than treating astrology as a predictive system, psychological astrology approaches it as a language for the psyche. The planets, signs and houses in your chart represent different dimensions of your inner world — your needs, drives, defences, wounds and gifts.

This approach has roots in the work of Carl Jung, who recognised astrology as one of the oldest symbolic systems for mapping the human experience. Modern psychological astrology builds on this foundation, integrating it with contemporary understandings of attachment, trauma and developmental psychology.

When used within a therapeutic context, psychological astrology can offer a framework that helps you make sense of patterns that might otherwise feel confusing or random. It can illuminate why certain themes keep recurring in your life, what your deeper needs are, and where your growth edges lie.

How We Use Psychological Astrology at Ādarśa

At Ādarśa, psychological astrology is always offered within the context of therapy — it is not a standalone astrology reading service. Sharna integrates astrological insight into sessions only when the client is open to it and when it serves the therapeutic process.

In practice, this might look like:

  • Using your birth chart to explore recurring emotional patterns and their deeper roots
  • Understanding relational dynamics through the lens of your chart — why certain types of relationships or conflicts keep showing up
  • Identifying periods of transition or growth that align with significant astrological transits
  • Exploring questions of meaning, purpose and identity through the symbolic language of the chart
  • Using astrological insight to support and deepen the somatic and psychological work already happening in therapy

This is not a replacement for evidence-based therapy. It is an additional lens — one that some clients find profoundly validating and clarifying. For others, it may not resonate, and that is completely fine. It is always offered as an invitation, never imposed.

Sharna’s background as a registered psychologist and somatic psychotherapist ensures that any astrological exploration is grounded in clinical skill and therapeutic ethics. The birth chart is used as a tool for self-understanding, not as a diagnostic framework or a substitute for psychological assessment.

Who Might Benefit from Psychological Astrology?

Psychological astrology within therapy may be particularly meaningful if you:

  • Are drawn to symbolic or archetypal ways of understanding yourself
  • Feel curious about the deeper patterns running through your life — in relationships, career or personal growth
  • Are going through a significant life transition and want to understand it at a deeper level
  • Have an interest in astrology and want to explore it in a psychologically grounded and therapeutically safe context
  • Are on a path of personal or spiritual development and want support integrating these experiences
  • Have experienced spiritual emergence or transpersonal experiences and want to make sense of them

It can also be helpful for people who have done a lot of cognitive therapy and are looking for a different way into their experience — one that speaks to the imagination and the soul as much as to the rational mind.

What to Expect

If you’re interested in incorporating psychological astrology into your therapy, simply let Sharna know. She will need your date, time and place of birth to prepare your chart.

Astrological themes will then be woven into sessions as and when they are relevant — this is not a separate service with its own sessions, but an integrated layer within your ongoing therapy.

Some clients find that exploring their chart brings immediate clarity and recognition. Others find it builds over time as they notice how chart themes play out in their daily life. Either way, the astrology always serves the therapy, not the other way around.

Sessions remain 60 minutes and follow the same structure as all individual therapy at Ādarśa — grounded in somatic awareness, tailored to your needs, and held in a safe therapeutic relationship.
